A pit bull puppy named Eva entered a grooming salon in Queens, New York. She was not there for a doggy spa treatment or even a bath, though: she was there to stay. Her owner said his landlord would not allow him to keep a dog in his apartment. So, instead of trying to find her a new home he just left her at the groomers. He said was only going to be temporary, but now Eva has been living there for three years. Her owner would come and visit at first, then the visits stopped—and then he stopped paying for her to be boarded there.
A man named Sam Taylor heard about Eva from a friend and couldn’t believe the four year old dog had lived that way for three years of her life. Eva has known nothing but this basement cell (she lives in a small room) and has little to no contact with humans or the outside world. However, the groomers have cared for Eva while she has lived there. They feed her, take her for walks outside and even make sure she has all her vaccinations. But Eva doesn’t get much attention or love in the basement. The employees try to spend time with her when they can, but she stays in the basement all night by herself.
Eva is always happy to see people and is very sweet, calm, friendly and quite patient as well. The problem is she has no idea how to act around other animals or dogs. Eva just really has not had a chance to simply be a dog. So, Sam is trying desperately to find a loving home for Eva. She is smart and loving and needs a forever home that will provide her the love she needs. She needs a home with some experience with dogs who can be patient with her as she can learn how to be a dog and how to interact with other dogs as well. To adopt Eva, contact [email protected]
