For a man named Patrick Peifer, Oliver the dog is a welcome addition to his home. The little dog was recently rescued from a terrible situation and he lives with Patrick and his wife and children. After all he has been through, the family does all they can to make Oliver feel safe and at home with them. He had a terrible past, but he has a truly wonderful life now. The family does all they can to make him happy, but sometimes dogs need to do things they may not necessarily enjoy. For Oliver the dog, getting his nails clipped is one of those activities.
When Patrick and his family knew it was time to clip Oliver’s nails, the routine experience turned into quite the ordeal. Oliver was so upset about the nail clipping that it took one person to hold him still and another to carefully trim his nails. Oliver gets upset about being physically restrained, so the family knew they needed a new solution to keep him calm during nail clippings. Patrick, in particular, came up with a genius idea. He wanted something to limit Oliver’s movement but not make him feel restrained in any way. So, he headed to the local Goodwill for a women’s handbag.
So, he went to his local store and found the perfect bag for just eight dollars. Then, he used an X-Acto knife to cut holes in the bottom of the bag for Oliver’s legs. Then, he suspended the purse from some exercise equipment installed on a door frame so he would be up in the air with his legs hanging down. This creation, which Patrick calls a “dog soft taco” was the perfect solution: Oliver was calm during the nail trimming. However, he still got his favorite treat for being such a good boy: string cheese.
