Tyri Allen, who is seventeen years old, typically walks to and from his school in Los Angeles each day. But one day in December was anything but a typical day. Tyri was almost home when he saw something strange: a little furry brown shape underneath a nearby truck parked on the street. When he got closer, he realized it was a tiny puppy. The puppy was so small, in fact, that it only weighed two pounds. Not only that, but the puppy was shaking and shivering and clearly needed help. Tyri looked around for an owner or even the puppy’s siblings or mother but the little dog was all alone. So, Tyri brought him home with him.
Luckily, Tyri is from a family of dog lovers so bringing a stray puppy home was no problem. Everyone chipped in to care for the little pup, who was so young he could not eat solid food yet. So, they took turns feeding him with a syringe of wet food and they took him to the vet for his first set of shots and to be dewormed. They even gave the puppy a name: Bruno. He was thriving in their home and was growing into a loving, playful dog. However, the family already had two dogs and did not think they could give Bruno the love and attention he deserved, so they reached out to Piper Thomas, founder of Hand in Paw rescue group. Piper decided to bring Bruno in her home until she could find a home for him, and he immediately bonded with her husky Luna.
Though Luna is fifty pounds and Bruno is just four, they are inseparable and play almost constantly. Bruno loves to jump and bark and run circles around Luna. Bruno just reached ten weeks old, which means he’s ready to be adopted into a forever home. He is thriving and will make a great companion, all thanks to Tyri’s kindness on that walk home from school back in December.
