There is truly no sadder story in the world than one of a dog or animal that is being mistreated by humans. It can be difficult to hear these stories, but this one has a very happy ending for one very special dog.
A sweet puppy named Angel now has a new home, a new name, and a very bright new future ahead of her. Previously known as Stitch, Angel is a nine month old puppy that is an energetic blue heeler and pit bill mix. Though she loves to play tug of war and fetch with her new owners, things were not always this great for the dog.
Dr. Tiffany Healy, a veterinarian in Cheyenne Wyoming, recently treated the dog’s serious injuries through a series of major surgeries. Rescuers believe Angel sustained these injuries at the hands of her former owner who allegedly abused her. Her injuries were so severe, in fact, that she was in danger of losing one of her legs. Angel’s leg healed, however, and did not need to have it removed. As luck would have it, this sad story was just the beginning of a very happy ending.
While Angel the dog had many serious injuries including a broken skull and over twenty broken bones throughout her body, she had so much going for her. After recovering from surgery, she was transferred to the Black Dog Animal Rescue to recover and gain back her trust for human beings again. Those first few weeks after she had surgery, Angel needed to be monitored around the clock to ensure she was healing properly.
There was a family waiting to take her in as a foster dog. The family provided her with much needed care and love and took her for weekly visits to the veterinarian. Her abuser was convicted of the abuse, and she’s back to being a dog again. A happy ending indeed!
